During a driving training in the center of Klagenfurt, a 16-year-old Spaniard who does not have a driver’s license lost control of the vehicle. She went down a flight of stairs and crashed into a building.
Although the 16-year-old does not have a driver’s license, a man from Klagenfurt (36) let his friends from Spain drive his car for an illegal test drive through the inner city of Klagenfurt. There was a collision around 6 p.m.: “The 16-year-old mistook the accelerator for the brake and drove head-on over a staircase in a building,” the police said. The car then came to a stop.
Heavy damage to the building
The journey left a trail of destruction: the fencing, the facade and a roof were badly damaged. “The roofing had to be secured by the professional fire brigade because it threatened to collapse,” says the Klagenfurt traffic police.
Injured, the teenager had to be taken to hospital by the ambulance service, but the 36-year-old escaped without injury. The car was a total loss. The professional fire brigade and a towing service needed two cranes to recover the wreck.
