For two girls (14 and 16 years old) a toboggan run ended in the hospital: they crashed into a safety fence in Kirchberg in Tirol on Wednesday afternoon and suffered serious injuries. The toboggan run had to be closed.
The two young Austrians (14 and 16 years old) rode together on a sledge from the Gaisberg mountain station in Kirchberg down the toboggan run into the valley on Wednesday afternoon. On a straight, steep section near the reservoir, they left the track on the right-hand side around 5:30 p.m. and crashed into a safety fence and an outrigger. Both suffered serious injuries to their right leg.
Toboggan run temporarily closed
Because the two got trapped in the safety fence, the toboggan run had to be closed until the girls were freed. After first aid from the slope rescue service, they were flown by rescue helicopter to the hospital in St. Johann.
