According to initial indications, two immigrants and two security officers were shot in Loon-Plage – near the Mardyck immigrant camp – and a man in his 30s was shot dead by the alleged perpetrator in the town of Wormhout.
Loon-Plage, a small town a few miles from Dunkirk, is one of the busiest border crossings for immigrants and asylum seekers seeking to enter Britain clandestinely, risking their lives in the English Channel.
