A six-unit residential complex was already engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived, and the rescue of a man trapped on the second floor standing in front of an open window already billowing thick smoke was well underway.
The rescued was taken to Bregenz State Hospital with severe breathing difficulties. The 90 Floriani disciples from Vorkloster, Rieden, Bregenz Stadt, Hard immediately started to put out the fire. The cause of the fire was identified as a technical defect in a washing machine on the first floor.
