An obsolete tank fire truck that gave up the ghost, a risk of explosion and wind that drove the flames towards the house: the fire brigade in Ramsau had to deal with several challenges on Saturday around 2.30 pm! In a workshop fire, however, the 65 Florianis successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the home.
At 2:33 p.m., the residents of the house called the fire brigade of Ramsau am Dachstein: an outbuilding of a building was completely on fire. For the production of the water supply and the extensive firefighting, also with heavy respiratory protection, the management arranged for the fire brigade of Schladming, Haus and Oberhaus to be alerted again.
The emergency services had to overcome several challenges that made their task even more difficult: on the way to the burning object, an older tank fire truck gave up the ghost. Then the wind threatened to spread the flames to the multi-storey residential building. In addition, the extensively equipped workshop contained, among other things, acetylene gas cylinders from a welding machine, which, according to the fire brigade, were in danger of exploding.
The Florianis focused on the protection of the multi-storey residential building. The deployed fire brigade managed to prevent the house and other outbuildings from expanding. However, the workshop could no longer be saved; these burnt-out parts of the building are now being demolished using excavators.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, as is the extent of the damage.
