Austria will start the coming week with almost spring-like temperatures. According to the forecast of Geosphere Austria, the mild weather phase, which we have already enjoyed in recent days, will last until next Friday. But then a cold front arrives from the north. This means that the chance of showers will increase again.
First the good news: already on Monday it should be around 16 degrees. However, residual clouds are expected for a few hours in the north and east tomorrow. Locally there can also be light rain or snow, but the snow line is soon above 1000 meters above sea level.
Sunny start of the week with a maximum of 16 degrees
Then the weather becomes increasingly sunny, only high veil clouds obscure it. In the north and east the weather is more lively, strong westerly winds can be expected again in exposed locations, otherwise it will be mostly weak. Sunny weather prevails in the west and south right at the start of the day. The early temperatures between minus three and plus six degrees give way to values between nine and sixteen degrees during the day.
Sunny and very mild weather in February
Particularly in the west, sunny February weather and very mild weather during the day are predicted on Tuesday. In the eastern half and in the far north, thin, loose cloud fields can cloud the mainly sunny weather character for a short time. According to experts from Geosphere Austria, the wind will initially blow quite strongly from the west in the eastern lowlands, in the Danube area and on the eastern edge of the Alps, but will generally decrease in the evening. Depending on the wind and cloud cover, early temperatures range from minus three to plus nine degrees and usually rise to ten to 18 degrees.
Little wind and mostly sun
High daytime temperatures of nine to sixteen degrees are also expected on Wednesday. The sun is shining in most regions. However, as the high current turns to the southwest during the day, some high and medium cloud fields will also be brought to Austria, especially in the western half, noticeably clouding the sunlight. Wind should usually blow only weakly.
The spring-like temperatures will slowly come to an end from Thursday: A fault zone will bring dense clouds and some rain in the west. With the southwesterly high-level current, high and medium cloud fields continue in the other regions, foehn effects sometimes also provide longer sunny periods, while high fog fields can also persist over the lowlands in the north and east. The wind will blow weak to moderate from southeast to west and after early temperatures of minus three to plus six degrees, the maximum values will be between six and 13 degrees, depending on the sun.
The next cold front will then approach on Friday
The next cold front will approach from the north on Friday. Fog fields and high fog above the lowlands are replaced by cloud fields during the day, but occasionally the sun shines everywhere. On the other hand, the risk of showers increases during the day, but the south remains favorable for the weather. The wind blows weak to moderate from the southeast to the west and after minus three to plus five degrees in the morning hours there are still daily maximum temperatures of seven to twelve degrees.
