Arrest at a homeless shelter in Vienna-Mariahilf: Because a 57-year-old man behaved stubbornly at breakfast around 10:15 am on Saturday and knocked over a table, he was evicted from the facility by a supervisor and a security officer. He was banished from the house. However, that did not stop the man from returning two hours later – with a carving knife.
When the 57-year-old man returned from Slovakia shortly after being evicted from the property, the 38-year-old facility supervisor and 23-year-old security guard evicted him from the property. However, the man did not like that at all and, according to the police, took a carving knife from his shopping cart.
Threatened to cut off hand with gestures
The 57-year-old is said to have threatened the two men with the gun. With reassuring conviction, the men managed to get the 57-year-old to leave the building. From a distance, the security guard then saw the Slovak turn to him and take the carving knife out of his cart again. He then threatened to cut off his hand with gestures and then fled.
The supervisor then alerted the police. The agents of the WEGA special unit quickly arrested the suspect near the Gumpendorfer Straße underground station. The carving knife was taken from him. The homeless man denies the crime. After the police interrogation, the Viennese public prosecutor ordered his release.
