They are young, dedicated and have finally had enough: twelve children and young people are suing the Constitutional Court for their right to a secure future. We spoke with some of them and with their lawyer, Michaela Krömer.
“We cry out our hearts out, but we are not heard” – this quote comes from Franzi, a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Upper Austria. She is part of a group of children and youth from around the country who are campaigning for climate protection – at demonstrations, in their schools and more. “But nothing is being done to protect our future. It’s so frustrating, but there’s no way to stop,” Franzi clarifies.
