Alpine accidents in Tyrol – broken leg and Co.: From the slopes straight to the hospital

The series of serious skiing accidents in Tyrol does not stop: Monday the rescuers were again continuously active across the country. There were plenty of serious injuries to complain about. In one case the police are investigating a hit and run, in the other case the person who caused the accident gave a wrong name.

The first serious skiing accident happened shortly before 10 a.m.: a 15-year-old holiday boy from Belgium lost control in the Zettersfeld ski area in East Tyrol and fell backwards (!) on a 66-year-old resident. The pensioner also fell and suffered an open fracture of the lower leg. After first aid, she was flown by ambulance helicopter to Lienz District Hospital.

Broken rib and spinal cord injury
Scene change to the Ausserfern: In Bichlbach there was a collision between two German skiers around 10:45 am. A 44 year old was flown by RK-2 emergency helicopter to Reutte District Hospital with a suspected rib fracture and cervical spine injuries. The second contestant – a 17-year-old – sustained a shoulder injury.

Escape after violent collision
Also in the Ausserfern – in the Lermoos ski area – a Dutch woman (54) and an unknown snowboarder collided around 12:30 p.m. The tourist broke several ribs in the fall. She had to be taken to the hospital in Reutte by rescue helicopter. The snowboarder fled. Useful information for detection unknown at the Lermoos police inspection on telephone number: 059/133 7154.

Captured after a brief escape – report!
Shortly after 2 p.m., a 43-year-old German snowboarder and a Dutch skier (78) crashed in the Thurntaler ski area in East Tyrol. The 78-year-old was injured and had to be taken to hospital by Sillian’s rescue team. The German had fled – but he was soon tracked down. He is shown.

Wrong name and fake address
A serious skiing accident also occurred in the Ötztal around 2:35 p.m.: In Obergurgl, a German (42) collided with another skier. The first suffered one fracture of the fibula. “The second skier involved gave a fictitious name and false address of his alleged holiday residence. He has not yet been identified, police said.

A few minutes later, a 64-year-old American was seriously injured in a collision in Sölden.
