On Wednesday afternoon, a fire broke out in a building of the sorting installation at the manure site in Vienna-Simmering. The professional fire brigade had to turn out with a total of 68 emergency services and 17 vehicles. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
The fire alarm went off at 2:30 p.m. and numerous workers also noticed the smoke development in the main hall in Johann-Petrak-Gasse, reports fire spokesman Jürgen Figerl. Due to the size of the waste logistics center, alert level two has been declared.
No injuries
“With several extinguishing lines and foam, the fire was quickly under control,” says Figerl. In addition, the room was smoked with special large filters. At 4:30 p.m., the fire service was able to withdraw. Fortunately no one was injured.
