Date:

A 68-year-old in the Tyrolean Oberland was very lucky on Wednesday: On the way back from an alpine meadow to the valley, the local resident lost his balance and fell about ten meters over the neighboring area in front of a fallen tree – immediately in front of a deep abyss – a new prevent crashes!

The 68-year-old Tyrolean was already on Tuesday with two other men up the mountain “Streichgampen” in the municipality of Zams (Landeck district) to carry out the necessary work there, the police said.

Lost balance and fell
After the work was done, the trio finally made their way back to Zams on Wednesday. And then it happened. “The 68-year-old wanted to tie his shoelaces at an altitude of about 1,400 meters. He lost his balance and fell over the road.”

The man was injured about ten meters below the path. Right in front of a deep abyss! “A fallen tree prevented another accident,” police said.

Injured rescued by rope
The two companions immediately climbed up to the wounded and tied him up. The 68-year-old was eventually rescued by the emergency helicopter using a rope and then flown to hospital in Zams.
