Infection process – friend died of Corona: “Not my fault!”

Date:

Corona as a weapon? According to the prosecutor of Klagenfurt, Julius Heidinger, a 53-year-old woman from Carinthia has her 69-year-old neighbor on her conscience. She was “remarkably carefree” despite positive Covid tests and a valid quarantine notice – and allegedly infected a pensioner with cancer, who subsequently died.

The trial starts two hours late and continues unplanned: The defendant, mother of two and claiming to be a freelance mediator and expert in conflict management, explains in detail why she cannot be held responsible for the fate of her neighbor: “I had bronchitis, not corona. Moreover, I have certainly never been PCR tested.” Judge Dietmar Wassertheurer wants to know how your virus sample can be examined by an expert? “That is not possible”, she remains convinced. “I was sick and stayed in bed, that was all. That’s the end of the discussion.”

Gross negligent homicide
But it can’t be that easy. Because the woman is accused of deliberately endangering the community and killing through gross negligence, crimes punishable by up to three years in prison and far from a “trivial matter”! “She had a positive test, received a quarantine notice and, knowing she was infected, was in the stairwell of her apartment building as well as in a taxi and at a coffee meeting,” prosecutor Heidinger confirms. In addition, she would have met her neighbor who was seriously ill with cancer three times – who then fell ill from the same virus strain and eventually died.

“Doubt of Corona death”
“I doubt he died of Corona,” adds the 53-year-old. She knows the forensic report, but what does it say? “We had a very loving relationship with the neighboring family,” she says. “But we haven’t had any contact since the death.”

Now that the suspect completely denies responsibility, the process is now becoming increasingly dragging: after all, there are several witnesses who claim to have seen the woman walking around without a mask despite her illness. And the doctor will probably remember how he got the PCR test. A verdict will probably be a long time coming.
