The EU approves the 10th package of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine

The European Union agreed “in extremis” on Friday on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, which coincides with the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, including a ban on the export of technology for military use and measures against Iranian companies that supply drones to Moscow.

“Together, EU member states have imposed the toughest and most far-reaching sanctions ever imposed to help Ukraine win the war,” he concluded.

Specifically, they will be punished 47 electronic components that Russia can use in its weapon systems, such as drones, missiles and helicopters, such that, taking into account the nine previous packages, all technological products found on the battlefield will be banned, said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in proposing it.

Seven Iranian companies are linked to the Revolutionary Guard who make the drones that Tehran gives to Moscow to bomb Ukraine.

The new measures include a hundreds of Russian individuals and companiesincluding members of the military.

All goods and assets they have in the EU will be frozen and they will be prohibited from entering the territory of the Community.

Sanctions are yet to come, however be formally approved before they can actually take effect.

Following this tenth package against Russia, EU countries will begin talks on a new round of sanctions against Russia early next week. Belarus for his support of the Kremlin in the war against Ukraine.
