Three Viennese boys had forgotten their sports equipment on the train on the way to Bad Goisern. The ÖBB driver later found the skis and immediately set the “rescue chain” in motion, saving the children’s ski course.
It is thanks to a very helpful train driver from Attnang that three Viennese students still had a nice ski lesson. And so it happened: 60 students from the AHS Wien West were on their way to Bad Goisern last week in the ÖBB regional express – for a ski course.
phone was hot
When disembarking, three pairs of skis in the luggage rack were overlooked and left behind. ÖBB driver Michael Wöhrer noticed this. He went looking for the owners. “I knew the three kids who own the skis would be heartbroken if their school ski course started with such a nasty surprise. Because I know the region well, I knew which neighborhoods were suitable for a school class and I started calling the hotels,” he says.
Machinist invited to Vienna
He quickly found the accommodation and eventually reached the responsible teacher. The next day the students were able to pick up their skis at the train station. And Michael Wohrer? He was invited to Vienna for breakfast by the three students. The driver of the model train was given a day off by the ÖBB for the visit.
