A few months after a baseball bat attack on a sleeping homeless person in the Gmunden district of Upper Austria, police were investigating two youths as suspected perpetrators. An 18-year-old at the time of the crime was arrested and taken to prison, and his accomplice, who was a year younger, was reported.
The two suspects were masked when they approached the 64-year-old, who was sleeping in the waiting room at the Aurachkirchen train station in Ohlsdorf, on the night of April 20 with a baseball bat and a pistol they allegedly found. There, the youths allegedly threatened the man to kill him. They also hit him several times with the baseball bat.
Extensive investigations preceded the investigation into the young men. The police do not want to say how exactly the detectives arrived at the duo. Both suspects confessed, police said Thursday.
