Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko is on a state visit to China on Tuesday. Lukashenko arrives at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping and will stay until March 2.
A spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry on Monday praised the “weatherproof and comprehensive” partnership with Belarus. China looks forward to using the visit as an opportunity to further promote cooperation.
Lukashenko’s trip comes just days after the release of a Chinese position on the war in Ukraine, in which Beijing reiterated its intention to be a neutral party and called for dialogue between the two sides. Lukashenko is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
