The well-known Graz criminal lawyer Gerald Ruhri was fed up with the chicken scandals and filed a criminal complaint with the Graz public prosecutor’s office for fraud. In his sights: chicken farmers and the AMA!
The association against animal factories (VGT) has published horrific images of chicken farms in Styria in recent months. At the end of last year, three companies – all of which carried the AMA seal of approval – were charged with animal cruelty. For example, terrifying scenes showed a tractor unscrupulously crushing creatures under its fat tires. Or employees who beat clearly injured chickens with a stick.
The slaughterhouse operator threatened to sue
On Monday, the following shocking publication followed from a Styrian poultry slaughterhouse, where animals were used as cleaning rags, among other things. Incidentally, the slaughterhouse is the one that was supplied with poultry from the companies linked to the former scandal. And – as the VGT announced in another broadcast – threatened a lawsuit before publishing the photos, but the animal rights activists were not deterred.
File a report with the public prosecutor
The well-known Styrian criminal lawyer Gerald Ruhri is full of hatred against such atrocities. He has now taken the initiative himself, written a statement of facts to the public prosecutor’s office in Graz and filed a complaint against the three chicken fatteners mentioned above, as well as against the AMA and their responsible employees. And because of fraud! “The charge is currently being investigated by the Graz public prosecutor’s office,” confirms Krone spokesman Hansjörg Bacher.
“Customers are misled about quality”
Why is Ruhri convinced that investigations will also be launched? There is a contract between Agrarmarkt Austria and the operators of the lever mast with the labeling guidelines that must be observed. These specify, for example, the protection of animal welfare and the best possible farming conditions. The consumer trusts to buy high quality goods by marking them accordingly.
In fact, the customer – in this case the trading company and then the final consumer – gets the exact opposite of what is advertised: meat from tortured animals! The lawyer thinks the AMA checks are more of a sham and worthless by checks that have long been announced.
Slaughterhouse takes position
The chicken slaughterhouse already commented on the circumstances that had come to light on Wednesday morning: “We regret these incidents and accept our responsibility in this context.” There were “corresponding employment law consequences” for the employees involved.
