Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro and Alex Aranburu will be Movistar’s leaders at Strade Bianche which will take place on Saturday in Italy, the “sterrato classic”, where the Dutch Annemiek Van Vleuten will represent the Spanish squad with options to achieve their third title in the event.
Guerreiro, recent winner of the Tour of Saudi Arabia and third in O Gran Camiño, will be one of Movistar’s references along with Aranburu in a squad completed by Carlos Verona, Nelson Oliveira, Iván Romeo, Lluis Mas and Juri Hollmann.
The Strade Bianche in its 184 km route includes 11 sections of ‘white roads’ in the Siena area, where the city’s Piazza del Campo will once again be the scene of the finish line.
In the women’s team, the attraction is focused on double world champion and Strade Bianche Annemiek Van Vleuten, 40, who will be joined by Sheyla Gutiérrez, Liane Lippert, Emma Norsgaard, Floortje Mackaij and Paula Patiño.
Passes to Lucignano d’Arbia and, above all, Monte Sante Marie are the only major differences on the women’s 136 km track compared to the men’s.
