Operation for the mountain rescue service Thursday in Ehrwald in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol: An 87-year-old German suddenly complained of shortness of breath during a hike and collapsed a short time later. The previously ill man was flown to hospital by ambulance helicopter.
According to the police, the 87-year-old suffers from heart and lung disease. Late Thursday morning, a hike near the valley station of the Zugspitzbahn finally became his downfall.
The elderly German, who was accompanied by an acquaintance, suddenly complained of breathing difficulties after a short walk and collapsed a short time later.
With an emergency helicopter to the clinic
An emergency call was immediately made. The mountain rescue team arrived on scene and provided first aid and rescued the hiker. The 87-year-old was then flown by emergency medical helicopter to the hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
