Someone must have looked too deep into the glass! A drunk Dutchman lost control of his car in Westendorf in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel on Thursday evening, ended up in the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming taxi. The driver’s passenger and the taxi driver were injured and had to be taken to hospital.
The serious accident happened just before 9 p.m. The 35-year-old Dutchman, who was accompanied by a compatriot of the same age, drove his car in the center of Westendorf on a municipal road towards the train station when he lost control while making a right turn.
The car then first hit the crash barrier and finally collided head-on with the oncoming taxi, in which only the driver (40) was sitting at the time.
Taxi driver and passenger injured in hospital
The co-driver of the accident driver and the 40-year-old taxi driver sustained serious injuries due to the force of the collision. After first aid, the two men were taken by ambulance to Kufstein Hospital. According to the police, an alcohol test on the Dutch driver was positive!
“Both vehicles were heavily damaged. They were no longer roadworthy and had to be removed by a towing company,” the investigators said. Appropriate notifications will be made upon completion of the investigations.
