Slope rescuers called – skier (13) crashed into tunnel portal in Tyrol

Several serious skiing accidents in the Tyrolean Sölden (Imst district) on Monday! For example, a 13-year-old Irishman crashed into a tunnel portal near Giggijoch. The teenager suffered serious injuries to his upper body and had to be flown to hospital.

The 13-year-old was on the fun slope at Giggijoch in the tunnel passage area around noon. But for unknown reasons, he crashed into the left tunnel portal, made of snow. “He suffered serious injuries to his upper body,” police said. After initial care from the pister rescue team, the youngster was flown by rescue helicopter to the hospital in Zams.

Skier unconscious after fall
Only a short time later, a self-inflicted skiing accident also occurred in Sölden. A 61-year-old Dutchman fell over the edge of the slope and was left unconscious. After initial care from the pister rescue team, he was also flown to the hospital in Zams by emergency helicopter.

Seriously injured after collision
And shortly before 4 p.m. the fire rescuers had to take action again. For unknown reasons, a 51-year-old German and a 58-year-old Dutchman crashed together. The 58-year-old fell and suffered serious injuries. He also took the helicopter to the hospital in Zams.
