One woman, 100 men, 24 hours: Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson will soon be seen in a special theater production in London. For 24 hours, the British actress will play the same scene for a few minutes at the London Theater Young Vic, albeit with different partners.
100 different men – most of them non-professional actors – are assigned to take turns performing with Wilson in a breakup scene in which a couple discusses the disappearance of romance and creativity in their relationship. Neither man reportedly rehearsed with Wilson (“Luther,” “The Affair”) for the May 19-20 performance.
Change of different personalities
Speaking to the BBC on Monday, the actress said the alternation of personalities reflects the different dynamics in human encounters. Her own condition, such as increasing fatigue, will also affect the scene.
Viewers can choose whether they want to see the spectacle, which also becomes a kind of video installation with several broadcasts of detailed recordings, 24 minutes or 24 hours long. The piece called “The Second Woman” was inspired by the movie “Opening Night” by John Cassavetes.
