Two light aircraft of the Italian Air Force collided on Tuesday during training flights near Rome. Both pilots are dead.
The two light aircraft of the type Piaggio Siae-208s collided for unknown reasons during practice over the town of Guidonia Montecelio, near Rome. After the crash, one of the two machines fell on a field, the other on a car parked next to houses. Besides the two deaths, there are no reports of other victims so far.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed dismay at the crash and death of the two pilots. “On behalf of the Government, I express my deepest condolences and solidarity to the families, colleagues at 60 Squadron and the Air Force. Our prayers go out to them,” the right-wing politician said in a statement.
