For the second time, a young Carinthian was caught with child pornography. “The pictures are so horrible,” the 26-year-old admits at the trial in Klagenfurt – asking, “I need help.” But first he has to go behind bars. Because the judge is exhausting the possibility to lock the man up.
First and foremost, the young defendant feels sorry for himself. “I want to get away from that shit, the pictures are so horrible,” he said in an endless loop before judge Gernot Kugi at the regional court in Klagenfurt. “Last time you had the opportunity to do that,” Mr. Rat replies dryly. Because the young Lavattaler is not the first time in the dock for him. He had already been convicted in 2020 after photographs of tortured and abused girls were found on him that he had collected over the course of three years.
‘He knows exactly what he’s doing’
This time, the man was caught by a tip from the cybercriminals – because he not only hoarded a large number of child pornographic items, but also forwarded them. “I have no idea why I did that,” says the suspect, who, despite his 26 years, still lives at home with his parents. “It’s not that that really turns me on. I know it’s wrong, but I don’t know why I’m doing it.” Not everyone in the courtroom believes that, “He knows exactly what he’s doing,” says one investigating officer, “because he had numerous fake accounts for his files.”
“What, do you want me to sit down?”
“I need help,” the 26-year-old laments. “But this is no longer about help, but about a sanction and a verdict,” the judge clarified. And imposes a possible sentence of up to three years in prison for 15 months, five months of which are mandatory – showing that after the discussion over Burgtheater mime Florian Teichtmeister, the sentences are likely to be harsher. “What, why should I sit down?” The inveterate child porn fan is stunned, gets up and offended wants to leave before the end of the trial. “I have enough.”
German prosecutor catches Carinthian
When he leaves the room follows child porn fan number 2, alias “Opa61”, who has been convicted in other investigations by the German senior prosecutor’s office in Cologne. The three-time married father (62) is visibly embarrassed by the files and perverted talk about “cuddling with children”: “My mistake was that I registered on such a platform,” he says. “First we wrote about cars and everything and then…” “And then,” the judge added, “it was about completely different things. Please don’t pretend none of this is anything!”
No detention for first offenders
“I’m sorry,” says the married father. He himself does not know what he thought when he was sent “pictures of children”. Consumers of child pornography generally never seem to know or want to talk about this. Due to the confession, the process is then quickly over. “Is the criminal record nowhere on it?”, the suspect wants to know. Probably yes: a fine of 2700 euros and five months probation can now also get into professional trouble for the impeccable security guard of a respectable company.
