For the police, the robbery of a Styrian woman (55) in Stattegg has almost been solved, five suspects – including father and son – are in custody. But the stolen goods, which she also buried in the garden, have disappeared.
On December 15 last year, a Styrian woman experienced the real martyrdom in her home in Stattegg: she was overpowered by four masked people and tied to an armchair with cable ties and adhesive tape. Then they asked for the code to a safe.
Because she couldn’t think about it in shock, the perpetrators cut the 300 kilo colossus out of the wall with an angle grinder and dragged it into a van, with which they fled. The safe contained not only coins, but also jewelry and cash.
It is clear to the police that the perpetrators must have had prior knowledge. They messed not only inside the house, but also in the garden. Because the victim also had a hiding place there: the woman had buried hundreds of gold coins under a rabbit hutch – and they are all gone now!
Father as tipster for theft?
The linchpin of the gang is probably a Brazilian (22) who is currently on the run. He knows all the suspects – including the son (28) of the victim’s ex-partner (57). In the past because the native Croat was now also arrested by the police. He allegedly acted as a tipster for his son.
Images of parts of the stolen goods were secured on his mobile phone. His son, in turn, is said to have made numerous phone calls with the Brazilian, whom he knew from vocational school. Two Russians (27, 28) are also involved in the robbery.
Lawyer denies allegations
Lawyer Christian Fauland represents father and son, some of whom have a relevant criminal record. But the accusations are not enough for him: “The suspicions are based on assumptions, my client never sent the pictures on his mobile phone to his son.” Further research is underway.
