The shock after the fatal accident during a swimming trip in Burgenland goes deep. Little Dunija had jumped into the current pool, all help came too late for her. Now it is clear what really happened.
Wasn’t daddy paying attention? Detectives have been investigating this question since the tragic death of Dunija (5). The prosecution has investigated the charge of negligent homicide. As reported, the accident happened on March 4 in the Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg.
Girl jumped into torrent pool
The father from Vienna was visiting with a woman and two little girls. Shortly after arrival, the man and his companion went to the smoking area, the children remained in a place near the deluge. Both adults could not see how Dunija suddenly jumped into the water.
Immediate resuscitation measures
The swimmers in the pool did not immediately notice that the five-year-old almost drowned. Then everything went very fast. At 12:47 a visitor pulled Dunija out of the water, a helper alerted the lifeguard and the rescue chain was on its way. Two minutes later, two lifeguards from the thermal baths and a guest began CPR.
“A privacy screen has been placed around the accident site. Four police officers and three crisis intervention officers kept many onlookers at a distance,” the police said. Four guests, including two nurses and a cardiologist, continue CPR at 12:51 a.m.
Will father be charged?
The emergency doctor and her team from the rescue helicopter arrived at 1pm. Everything humanly possible had been done, but all help came too late for the child. Duniya died in hospital. Not only is her father struggling with the tragic loss, he is now being sued.
