A young person was in a chase with the police over several kilometers and at a speed of up to 70 km/h. He filmed the wild ride. He and a police officer were injured.
At around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, a patrol from the St. Marein police station in Mürztal carried out checks with a civilian patrol vehicle. The officers noticed a moped coming from a petrol station in Mürzhofen and turning into the street directly in front of the patrol vehicle; The two-wheeler had no license plates. That is why the police officers decided to arrest the driver.
But despite the horn and flashing blue lights, the youngster accelerated and eventually drove at excessive speeds of up to 70 km/h. The officers tried to overtake the moped rider, but he swerved to the left several times, forcing the official car to constantly brake to avoid a collision. The pursuit then continued via the left Mürzzaile towards St. Marein, the moped rider then fled over a footpath towards Graschnitz.
Police officer and moped rider collided
The officials asked for support, another patrol positioned itself on the footpath. But even that did not deter the moped rider. He tried to flee across a meadow to the right, a police officer ran after him and asked him to stop immediately while running. The driver ignored that too – eventually there was a collision between him and the police officer. Both fell and were injured.
The 15-year-old filmed his journey with a so-called action cam. He is charged with several criminal offenses. As a motive for his escape, the boy stated that he was afraid to report the crime.
