Ukraine has again received an emergency loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) worth billions. The money will be used to strengthen the military, pay pensions, support social programs and support the economy.
“US$1.3 billion (about EUR 1.34 billion) of additional emergency funding from the International Monetary Fund has arrived in Ukraine,” Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal said on Thursday. According to him, preparations for another aid package next year are already in full swing.
IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva recently praised the cooperation with Kiev and promised further assistance. “Right now, we think the financing needs for 2023 will be somewhere between $3 billion and $4 billion per month,” she said Wednesday.
