Now everyone who wants to save “their” Kasberg sticks together. Instead of the crisis meeting to discuss how the family ski area can be preserved, there was a demo on Thursday evening, not just one.
Around 8 p.m., families with children, representatives of winter sports clubs, the ski school, nature lovers and other organizations gathered at the municipal office in Grünau to demonstrate to save the Kasberg.
People who do not want ‘their’ Kasberg to die on Sunday also gathered at the Hochberghaus. As is known, the last gondola ride in the ski area, which opened in 1967, could take place on March 12 if no solution is found.
There were also very personal statements among the demo participants: ten-year-old Johann wants to become a mountain rescuer here – just like his father and grandfathers – at least that’s what the banner says.
The inhabitants of the Almtal still do not want to accept that “their” ski area Kasberg could soon be a thing of the past. In any case, the concept with the summer operation will not work, so the state of Upper Austria no longer wants to bear the one million euros in arrears liability per year. The demonstrations are important and rightly so, but more will be needed before the lifts reopen next winter.
