The notorious mercenary group Wagner, known for their particularly brutal handling of the war in Ukraine, is becoming increasingly creative in their search for recruitment channels. Schools and sports clubs where children come are now also being consulted.
The head of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced on March 10 that recruitment centers had been opened in 42 Russian cities. A list of addresses of these places is attached to the information.
Wagner Group even recruits in schools
Journalists from the online portal “Taiga.Info” checked six addresses in Siberia and found that soldiers for the war are also being sought on the grounds of schools and sports clubs, according to the independent Russian news site “Meduza”. So it is mobilized in places where children come.
For example, in the Russian city of Omsk, in the Orthodox sports-patriotic club “Desantnik” (Eng.: “Paratroopers”) there is a “Wagner Center” – very much in the spirit of the fascist state that is Russia. The masses are being manipulated through the church behind Putin’s war. People should be athletic (strong) and patriotic and sacrifice their lives for their fatherland. Particularly bizarre is that the “Wagner Center” is housed in a high school.
In the capital of the Altai Krai in Russia, in the south of Western Siberia, there is a recruitment center in a municipal educational institution for children. Something similar can also be found in the city of Irkutsk, in the “Profi” club.
Mercenaries are actually banned in Russia
The cities of Krasnoyarsk and Chita also have sports centers where you can join the Wagner group. They are also frequented by children. In this context, “Taiga.Info” points out that mercenary activities are actually officially banned under Russian law.
From prison to gym
Prior to this, the Wagner group had recruited mercenaries in prisons and offered the convicts pardons from military service. Due to the sharp decrease in the readiness of the prisoners, Prigozhin suspended this recruitment option. The new announcement came at the beginning of March: from now on you would look for military personnel in fitness studios.
