Two wounded officers – multiple shots fired during a car chase in Salzburg

Shots were fired on Sunday afternoon in the quiet municipality of St. Koloman in the Salzburger Tennengau. A 20-year-old drug dealer sped away from officers, ignoring their stop signals. A police officer then pulled the trigger several times with his service weapon. The man was not impressed and just drove on. The crazy ride only ended at a roadblock. Two police officers were injured.

The chase started in the municipality of Scheffau am Tennengebirge, where police officers wanted to carry out a traffic check early Sunday afternoon. According to the police, the affected driver simply took off, endangering several motorists and pedestrians with dangerous driving maneuvers. The 20-year-old driver ignored multiple attempts to stop him and was unfazed by shots fired from a police officer’s service weapon.

Mad escape ended in crash – two police officers were injured
The crazed escape finally ended at a roadblock, where the driver drove into a civilian police vehicle parked sideways. He injured two police officers to an unknown extent. The police officers were able to arrest the Tennengauer, who does not have a driver’s license. An 18-year-old from Tennengau was in the passenger seat of the car. Both were unharmed. A drug test on the driver came back positive. The car has been seized by the Public Prosecution Service.

The police announced further investigation, interrogation and trace investigation. It is not yet known to what extent the firing of the shot is controlled.
