Mayor with a heart – Rents are not going up in this municipality

Date:

A strong signal against inflation is now being given in Vösendorf. Unlike in Vienna, where rents are also being increased in municipal buildings, interest rates at the gates of the federal capital may not be increased.

“Our tenants would normally have had the next adjustment on April 1,” explains Mayor Hannes Koza. But residents can already breathe a sigh of relief. This year there are no rent increases in social housing units that have already been allocated according to social criteria. This ensures that the allowance only affects low-income citizens anyway.

Immediate implementation
“With 450 housing units, we are by far the largest provider in the municipality,” emphasizes Koza. As time is running out, he will immediately implement this measure in his capacity as mayor – the necessary council decision will then be taken at the next meeting at the end of March. “But I don’t expect any votes against there”, the ÖVP politician is confident that the initiative will also be supported by the other parties.

He also wants to serve as a role model for other mayor colleagues: “We need to do something where we can do it ourselves!” Similar price freezes were recently decided in Traiskirchen, the district of Baden or Amstetten.
