Last weekend, a shooting broke out in a bar in Mexico. Ten people were killed and another five were injured, authorities said. It must have been a gang war.
The attack occurred when a group of gunmen burst into the bar and opened fire. Authorities announced on Sunday that the fatalities were seven men and three women.
The crime scene is located on a highway in the state of Guanajuato that connects the two cities of Celaya and Querétaro. Guanajuato is a prosperous industrial region and home to some of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations. But the state suffers from bloody battles between two cartels: the Santa Rosa de Lima and Jalisco Nueva Generación groups wage deadly gang wars. In addition to drug trafficking, they are also known for fuel theft.
