New rules for basic care for displaced persons from Ukraine are being considered in the federal states. They would have to recycle their cars to get electricity.
The Coordination Council of the federal and state governments has made a corresponding decision for the period from January, reports the “Standaard”. But Vienna has chosen its own path. In the federal capital, it remains a case-by-case assessment, as the APA confirmed.
This means that someone with an expensive car, as before, is hardly eligible for basic services. If it concerns a less prestigious vehicle, this is not a reason for exclusion. Other countries claim that if a person has enough money for fuel and insurance, he does not need help.
Ukrainians make up the majority of those receiving basic care
Refugees from Ukraine are responsible for the sharp increase in basic services since the Russian aggression in their country. At the beginning of November, more than 70,400 people were provided with appropriate care. 53 percent of them are Ukrainians.
