On the way to the hospital Tuesday, little Jannik slipped into the ambulance on the highway. All emergency services – including the father – became midwives. And everyone is fine!
On Tuesday, Red Cross ambulance crews from Wolfsberg witnessed an extraordinary operation: on the A2, just before the Pack exit, Manuela gave birth to her son Jannik with the support of her husband Roman and the rescuers.
It is the fourth child in the family – and actually the second born in an ambulance. Papa Roman, who is himself a district rescue commander in Voitsberg-Köflach, quickly became a ‘midwife’ as an emergency responder. Sarah, Jannik’s big sister, is also involved in the Youth Red Cross Group.
The rescuers from Wolfsberg – Raphael Krainbucher, Lukas Nikolowsky with Jonathan Müller, as well as paramedic Stefan Drescher and emergency physician Dr. Gertrude Rieger – provided the family with professional support and transported mother and child to the Wolfsberg LKH after birth. At 3180 grams and a height of 53 cm, little Jannik is doing well.
