An 18-year-old raced through Vienna without a driver’s license and at speeds of up to 160 km/h: he gave chase in such a way that his ex-girlfriend – who was in the car – undergoes psychological treatment. In the Vienna regional court, the young man himself described the action as “nonsense”.
A wild chase through Vienna’s 21st district lasted only about seven minutes – with fatal consequences for those involved: the driver is now in court, the passenger was injured and suffering from psychological consequences, another vehicle was completely damaged.
Construction worker almost hit
Because the suspect let the tires slip, the police became aware of the car. But the 18-year-old didn’t think about stopping: “I just drove on without thinking.” – without a driver’s license! He raced through a construction site, just avoiding a worker. When turning, he hit a car that crashed into a mast.
Passenger suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder
When he stopped briefly, the two young passengers were able to get out of the vehicle – he caught the 17-year-old with the tire on his foot. The 19-year-old ex-girlfriend still has anxiety today: “I’m not getting in a car anymore.”
The speed demon lists, for negligent physical injury, among other things, eight months probation and one prison sentence, which he has spent in custody since the incident. He bursts into tears when the judge says he can go home.
