Long prison sentence for British woman – Woman beats stepson (3) to death and films him

Date:

The fate of three-year-old Harvey shocked Britain. The autistic boy, who was unable to speak, died in August 2021 in the care of his stepmother. She had called an ambulance because the three-year-old lay motionless on the floor. The woman claimed that her stepson fell backwards off the sofa and was seriously injured. But that was not true, the 23-year-old had previously beaten the child to death. The woman now had to answer for the crime in court.

When the boy lost consciousness, the stepmother filmed him and only called an ambulance a few minutes later. “She considered how to avoid responsibility for her actions as Harvey fought for his life,” Nottingham prosecutors said. The child died in hospital two days later. Leila Borrington initially claimed to have taken the photo to show the paramedics.

Long list of wrongs
However, she did not do this, but sent the video to the child’s father, who was in the cinema at the time of the incident. Borrington responded to the video with the following words: “Why is all this happening to me?” Subsequent texts to the boy’s father after the crime showed “a shocking lack of care and concern,” the court said. The court concluded that the woman had beaten the boy several times. She had abused the child several times, breaking his arm.

This time too, it must be “repeatedly serious abuse”, according to the public prosecutor. The evidence left the jury and judge with only one conclusion: guilty. The 23-year-old was sentenced on Thursday to 15 years in prison for, among other things, manslaughter.
