In Wölzing-Fischering near St. Andrä in the Lavanttal (Carinthia), several waste containers burned out under a carport on Sunday evening. The St. Andrä fire brigade was able to contain the fire quickly.
Neighbors called the fire department around 7:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, several waste containers were on fire next to an apartment building. The fire is believed to have started in a paper container. “The fire was quickly under control with the help of HD pipe,” says the fire brigade. Due to the heat development, the adjacent facade of the apartment building had to be opened with a reciprocating saw.
Everything clear after an hour
The opened facade surface was then checked again with a thermal imager. After an hour, all 25 emergency services were able to return to their arsenal with four vehicles.
The facade of the apartment building was severely damaged by the fire. The extent of the damage is unknown at this time. The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Fortunately no one was injured.
