ELA general secretary Mitxel Lakuntza has pointed to the “success” of social mobilization in France against the pension reform, a day after the French government passed two motions of censure against it. “The strength and commitment of the unions in defense of pensions is clear. French society has largely taken to the streets and that has conditioned everything,” he added.
As for the Spanish state, the two parties that support the government have agreed with the UGT and CCOO on pension reform with the approval of the European Union. Interviewed on Euskadi Irratia’s “Faktoria” program, Lakuntza stated that the left cannot accept what has been agreed. “The reforms of previous years continue quite naturally: should the left recognize that retirement at 67 is forever? Should it give the green light to calculating pensions at 25?” has been asked.
