Italy was targeted by Russian hackers on Wednesday. The hacker group noname057(16) attacked the IT systems of the government and parliament, the ministries of Transport and Foreign Affairs, the traffic controller and the Roman public transport company ATAC, among others. The IT system at Bologna airport was also attacked, Italian media report.
The hacker group is known for so-called DDoS attacks (“Distributed Denial of Service”). Attackers try to paralyze servers with a flood of requests. According to the Italian authorities, the IT systems withstood the attack.
The hacker group referred to Telegram about the 20 Ukrainian soldiers currently undergoing a training program in Sabaudia, south of Rome, to use the Samp-T missile defense system, also known as Mamba.
It can detect targets up to ten kilometers away and its 18 missiles have a range of 100 kilometers. The system can shoot down all types of aircraft, cruise missiles, fighter jets and helicopters.
Italy and France have agreed to supply the system to Ukraine to help defend the country against Russian air strikes.
