Scotland Yard to issue 20 fines for Downing Party pandemics

The London Underground Police (also known as the Met or Scotland Yard) announced on Tuesday that they would initially issue twenty fines as part of a police investigation into Downing Street and government offices during a corovirus pandemic. The Met indicated that it would not disclose the names of those fined or confirm which events imposed the aforementioned sanctions for violating the social rules of virus retention.

However, Downing Street, the residence and official office of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said the executive would be contacted publicly if he would be among those fined. In particular, the police will hand over the fines to the so-called The Office of Criminal History (ACRO), which is responsible for imposing sanctions on individuals who, in turn, have 28 days to pay or cancel.

If the fines choose the second option, the police must consider the case and decide whether to lift the sanction or hand it over to the court. “We are making every effort to move this investigation forward quickly and we have completed several assessments,” a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

The Scotland Yard also notes that “due to the significant amount of investigative material that needs to be assessed, more cases may be referred to ACRO.” Met investigated 12 incidents that may have violated pandemic closure rules, including three meetings involving Boris Johnson.

As part of the investigation, agents sent more than a hundred questionnaires in February asking suspects about their involvement in the events. Last week, Scotland Yard said it had begun interviewing key witnesses for these celebrations, which ran from 2020 to 2021.

Police have more than 300 photos and 500 pages of documents with alleged evidence from the parties, which were also the subject of an independent investigation by senior official Su Gray, whose full report could not be released. Interfere with Met.
