Who was behind the wheel? – Pedestrian death: DNA test should clarify the driver’s question

Date:

On a protected route in Bregenz, a 57-year-old was hit by a car on Saturday evening. It is still unclear who was driving the car in the accident. The two suspects, a 28-year-old and his 48-year-old colleague, accuse each other. A DNA test should provide clarity.

The 57-year-old woman wanted to cross the protection path on Rheinstraße in Bregenz shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday evening. She was hit by a car and suffered fatal injuries. Passers-by immediately rushed to help the seriously injured and began resuscitation measures. For the 57-year-old, however, all help came too late. She died at the scene of the accident.

Driving away after an accident
The cause of the accident did not rush to help. He just took off with his passenger. The vehicle involved in the accident was found in Hard a short time later during a manhunt. It was quickly determined who was in the vehicle. A 28-year-old and his 48-year-old colleague are suspects. As reported, they accused each other of driving the car during the ensuing interrogation.

Test and image evaluations
Both were classified as unfit to drive because rapid drug tests came back positive for both. The 28-year-old was also drunk with 0.4 promille and does not even have a valid driver’s license. A DNA test must now show who is responsible for the fatal accident. Camera images are also assessed.
