Navarra is making progress on the construction of the high-speed rail corridor. This Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport and the government of Navarra presented a study that plans to eliminate the Pamplona rail loop and reduce the train journey between Pamplona and Zaragoza to one hour. In addition, according to this work, Tudela would have its own high-speed station.

The study was presented this Tuesday by the President of Navarre, Mary Chiviteand the Secretary General of Infrastructure of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), Xavier Floresat a press conference.

The construction of the high-speed train in Navarre is being carried out in two parts: in the part of the Pamplona region (Campanas-Zuasti), including the new Etxabakoitz station, will have an investment of about 500 million euros, and the route from Zaragoza to Castejon The investment is estimated at between 1,200 and 1,500 million euros. It will be a total investment of around 1600 or 2000 million euros, depending on the different alternatives that will eventually be implemented.

In any case, the project is in a very initial situation. Now the informational studies are open to public knowledge. Subsequently, the environmental impact study will be required to make way for the final approval of the project.

The President of the Government of Navarre, Mary Chivite, has made sure that the arrival of the TAV in Navarre “progresses and does so in an unquestionable way in the planning phase of the execution of works”. In this sense, he indicated that 2022 has been the year with the highest investment execution of the TAV in Navarre and that 2023 will be a key year.
