Thomas Eisenkölbl (37) has to apply for a pension after 17 years of work due to illness. A move that would ruin him financially. He only receives a mini-pension. This not only gives him sleepless nights, but also disappointment. Because he feels alone.
Thomas Eisenkölbl has suffered from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, better known as muscle atrophy, since birth. He has been in a wheelchair since he was 14. Contrary to all medical predictions, today he is 37 years old, but can only move his right index finger. All this did not prevent the cheerful resident of Neunkirch from living within his own four walls – with the help of round-the-clock care – and earning his own money. After graduating from high school, he began an apprenticeship at the court of Wiener Neustadt, where he worked as an administrative assistant for 17 years.
