Two people were seriously injured in a terrible accident at 4:30 am on Sunday in Obdach (Styria). After a head-on collision, a driver (35) was hit by a third vehicle and thrown through the air.
Police have not yet been able to clarify why a 37-year-old Romanian and a 35-year-old from Murtal collided head-on on the B 78 in Obdach on Sunday at 4:30 am. One thing is certain: the 37-year-old’s car overturned and he was seriously injured and trapped in a vehicle. The 35-year-old managed to free himself from his car and wanted to rush to the other vehicle.
But then it happened: a 62-year-old from Wolfsberg probably saw the accident vehicle too late. He tried to steer away at the last minute, dragging the 35-year-old man with him. The 35-year-old was hit by the car, thrown through the air and came to rest on the road.
Lenker provided first aid
It was the Carinthian who finally made the emergency call and provided first aid. A large contingent of rescuers arrived: the fire brigade had to cut the unconscious Romanian from the car and the helicopter flew him to UKH Graz. An emergency doctor treated the 35-year-old, who was taken to LKH Judenburg.
A total of 69 personnel from the volunteer fire brigades Obdach, Reichenfels, Bad St. Leonhard and Wisperndorf, the Red Cross with an emergency doctor, several paramedics and a crew from the Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter were deployed to the accident scene. The B78 had to be closed to all traffic from 4:50 am to 7:30 am.
