Two people were killed and 28 others injured in a shooting in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sunday night. According to the police, the perpetrator or perpetrators are still on the run.
Police officers are on the scene, CNN reported Sunday, citing a Baltimore police spokeswoman. A Fox Baltimore reporter, citing emergency services information, reported that a total of 29 people had been taken to hospitals.
Police received multiple calls around 12:30 a.m. local time, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley on duty Sunday morning. The suspect is on the run, the motive for the bloody deed is still unclear.
“A reckless, cowardly act”
Mayor Brandon Scott called the incident “a reckless, cowardly act” that claimed two lives. His message to the perpetrator was simple: “We won’t stop until we find you – and we will find you.”
The shots are said to have fallen in the Brooklyn Homes neighborhood in the south of the metropolis. According to US media, hundreds of people gathered there for an annual celebration called “Brooklyn Day”.
Eyewitnesses told Fox Baltimore that 20 to 30 shots were fired. It is unclear whether the incident was a unilateral attack or a shootout.
