Date:

Three patients and a nurse were seriously injured in a fire at a clinic in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Including a woman who was trapped in an elevator at the time of the fire and suffered life-threatening injuries. In total, about 40 people had to be cared for.

Two firefighters were also slightly injured in the heavy operation. About 100 emergency services were at the scene of the fire in Kreuzberg last night. According to a spokesman for the fire service, the fire appears to have started with burning hospital beds in the hallway. It is still unclear how they caught fire. According to the police, a suspicious man has been arrested and deliberate arson cannot be ruled out. The smoke spread over eight floors of the clinic building and the rescue center was evacuated. The flames were eventually extinguished.

The fire surprised people in the clinic in the middle of the night. “We had to evacuate the entire rescue center,” says a spokesman for the Berlin fire service. “It is fortunate that we were able to rescue the woman from the elevator and that there are no more serious injuries.”
