Rejudging – Halloween riots: 2 months left for fireworks throwing

Date:

Once again, two teenagers stood before the Linz juvenile judge, who already has a routine with these cases, as noisy Halloween brothers. The judgments show that there are and there are two different things. It makes a difference whether you throw a firecracker or not.

Right in the middle or just there? That makes a not insignificant difference in the processes of the Halloween riots in Linz. This became apparent on Monday when two suspects of approximately the same age had to appear before the same judge in two consecutive processes.

The first teenager, a 16-year-old, was accused of being actively involved in the riots and throwing fireworks and the like himself. That he was part of the game is beyond dispute, but that he also threw himself could not be proven. So in the end there was a four-month suspended sentence and three years’ probation.

After lunch, a 17-year-old took a seat before the juvenile judge, who is the youngest in this office in Linz, but already has the most routine with the Halloween bullies. This boy was demonstrably not only there, but was in the middle of it and used all kinds of projectiles himself. He has thus taken on more blame for the accused “serious communal violence”, which is threatened with a prison sentence of up to two years. He was sentenced to six months in prison – two months longer than the defendant who had not thrown anything. Both statements are final.

The end of the Halloween trials is not yet in sight. In particular, the man who allegedly published the video calling for action still stands out from the crowd, as does his brother, who allegedly incited the crowd with a comment under the video.
