After deportation – table tennis talent may return to Salzburg

Date:

In February 2022, 14-year-old Husein Salimov was deported to Azerbaijan with his family after spending six years of his life in Salzburg. For a year, with the support of friends, the student fought for his return. Successfully!

Walter Windischbauer and Husein happily hug each other at the airport. For more than a year, the two had tried to ensure that Husein was allowed to return to Salzburg. His application for a student visa was rejected in June last year.

But the boy, seen as a young hope in table tennis in Salzburg, did not give up. His case ended up at the Constitutional Court. With the support of friends, he was now able to return to Salzburg on Tuesday. He got the long-awaited student visa.
