At least three people have been killed when a tourist helicopter crashed over the world-famous Ha Long Bay in northeast Vietnam. Two others are still missing.
The accident happened Wednesday night. According to media reports, four Vietnamese tourists and the pilot were in the Bell 505 helicopter.
Authorities said contact with the helicopter was lost nearly 20 minutes after takeoff. Moments later he fell into the water. The bodies of two passengers and the pilot were recovered late in the evening. On Thursday, about 300 rescue workers were deployed to search for the two missing persons.
Cause of crash still unclear
The Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, which owns the helicopter, offers 10 to 30 minute scenic flights over the World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay for prices ranging from 90 to 270 euros.
